2017 GARDENER'S IDEA BOOK

Don't underestimate foliage. It can be rich and dynamic all on its own. These deep plums, rusty reds, and shiny black tones can be even more striking than a bouquet of flowers. Whether paired with modern containers or planted in ornate ancient urns, dark foliage plants create a whole world of luxurious depth. If foliage alone isn't your thing, these plants can be a versatile backdrop to offset bright flowers and provide striking contrast to an arrangement.

Timeless green gets a modern update with these chartreuse foliage plants. This bright, lemony-green strikes a cheerful tone in any kind of planter. When used on its own, chartreuse foliage has a shockingly modern effect with a controlled energy and a wealth of texture. When paired with other colors, it is a refreshing and inviting backdrop to any combination.

Silver Foliage

Neutral, calming, serene silver. Silver foliage is remarkable for its subtlety. A limited palette of silver foliage is all about texture and form. Its neutrality draws the eye to other qualities of the plant like the feathery line quality of artemisia, the firework-like blooms of pennisetum, or the iridescence of 'Silver Gumdrop' heuchera. The cooler tones of this foliage only add intensity to any bursts of color you might add to your patio decor.
