2017 GARDENER'S IDEA BOOK

Once you have decided on dimensions and sketched out your planter, begin by drawing your L-Shaped sides on the wood panel. Using a carpenters square or T-square will help you make right angles.

What We Did

We began by measuring the stairwell our planters would live on to find the height and depth of each step. With that information in mind, we cut L-shaped side pieces to size from a 1'' thick wood panel. These panels can be found at Home Depot.

With side panels cut, we measured and cut the 5 pieces that would become the front, back and bottom out of 1x6 pine board. The unit came together with wood glue and nails.

After assembly, we painted the planter white and planted it with a mix of edibles and ornamentals.
